December 1, 1913 the Japanese battleship Kirishima was launched at Mitsubishi in Nagasaki, Japan. The 31,000 ton battleship survived until Nov. 15, 1942 when the battleship USS Washington BB-56 damaged her so badly in the second naval battle of Guadalcanal that her crew was forced to scuttle her.
