On April 11, 1941 the Japanese destroyer Akigumo was launched at Uraga Dock Company in Tokyo. Her
first operation was the attack on Pearl Harbor, she would later help to sink the abandoned USS Hornet CV-8.
Exactly three years after she was launched, the USS Redfin SS-272 sent her to the bottom with 137 crewmen.
