The Norwegian tanker Buesten was built in Glasgow in 1927 and was 388' long and 5,187 tons. She had been sailing with the Allies since 1940. Her last voyage was made from Baytown, Texas carrying
kerosene and benzene. When four miles off Berry Head, England she was attacked by an He-111 using bombs and cannon fire. The Royal Navy gunners onboard tried but failed to shoot down the attacking aircraft, some combination of bombs and gunfire from the plane set the ship on fire killing 28 crewmen, only seven, including the master, managed to launch a boat and get off the ship. They were picked up an hour later and landed the next day, sadly captain
Otto A. Farstad was killed on Apr. 16, only one week later, in an air raid on London.
