I found your website most enlightening. I have a great interest in the Battleship USS Massachuttes BB2. I am very anxious to know who the Captain was when the ship was decommissioned for the final time in March 31st, 1919. I understand from the history I have read that it is now off the coast of Pensacola Bay being used as an artificial reef. My main reason for writing is that I have, according to family history, the steering wheel as a chandelier in my Living room. It was given to my father back in 1950 by Mr. David Birdsell who was the brother of the Captain of the Battleship in the early 1900's to 1920's. I would appreciate any information you can give me.
