We have a photo of a young sailor possibly around WWII we believe it to be a relative whose last name may be Page or Waudby.  It seems as if he may have been stationed on the HMS Orion.  Is there any way of getting a crew list to peruse so we can find out who this sailor was.

Thought the below photo of one of Orion's gun covers would be of interest to you. It was given to my uncle Ted Banham (who served on Orion) before she was broken up in 1947. If you would like anymore info please contact me.

Regards,
Lee Banham

I found the MaritimeQuest while searching for details of my fathers World War I service. He died in W.W.2 when I was 17 (I am 85 now). We had a picture of H.M.S Orion in our house when I was a child and I have a faint memory of him saying that he had been on board during the battle of Jutland. His records from the R.A.F state that he was in the Royal Navy from 3/1910 until 6/1916. He would have been aged 17 in 1910. I also have a faint memory of him in a photograph wearing some sort of naval uniform and wonder if it was possible that there might have been civilians aboard Naval ships? Is it possible to search a crew list for H.M.S Orion? I know she was decommissioned soon after the end of the war. My father then went on to join the army between 1916 and 1919. I have his army number but after extensive searches think his records were destroyed in the blitz on London. If anyone could suggest any way in which I could find out I would be very grateful.

Yours sincerely,
Valerie

I am trying to find the crew list for HMS ORION at the Battle of Jutland. My father served as a Royal Marine at the age of 16/18 his was THOMAS ERNIST POTTER he served until 1922. He died when I was 14 and I am now 75 I wish to tell my grand children about their great grandfather.

I am trying to find the crew and its history as we have a relation that served on the Orion and was in the RM Band at the time. I have an original poster from 1920 when the band played the Alexandra Gardens in Weymouth on Sunday May 30th. I thought it might be of interest to him and information wise he maybe able to help me.

Thanks,
Stuart Potterton
