Although not a photo of the ship I have a pic of the grave of a crew member from 1902 in Wei hei Wei China. (showing below) My grandad was there on Eclipse at the time. The photos of the grave show his date of death as Oct. 8, 1902, but his service record gives the date as Oct. 10. He died from inflammation of the spinal cord.

Regards,
Roger Jones

I recently found an old photo of a sailor that was on the HMS OCEAN at a flea market in New Jersey. The photo is in excellent condition. How could I find out who this sailor is? On the top edge of the photo is the word "Dad" and on the bottom edge is the name "England". The words are on the white edge of the photo not on the picture itself. The age of the sailor around 22 years old. Any information would be great.

My Grandfather, Michael H. Flynn, was according to family history, a Royal Marine around 1898-1904. He was supposedly in the Boxer rebellion. I have found the 1901 England census that has a crewman listed by that name in Hong Kong Harbour on the HMS Ocean. That would support the story, but I don't know for sure if it was my Michael Flynn. He supposedly enlisted in the Navy at Glasgow, Scotland after being shanghied by a merchant vessel in Baltimore, Maryland and taken to England. He lied about his age (he was really about 14) and joined as a Canadian (even though he was born in Manchester). Is there any way to track down his enlistment at Glasgow and his service record?

Thank You, Sheila A Flynn

Family history says that my Great Uncle was in the British Merchant Marine, when the first world war was started he became part of it. He is reported to be at the Battle of The Dardanelles, he was a fireman in one of the ships that went down. His name war George Kennedy and he was from Paisley Scotland, can you help me find any information?

Thank You,
