I have just downloaded my grandfathers record and have noticed that he served on HMS Albion from 27 July 1914 to 15 October 1915. I would love any information regarding him. His name was John Stewart Rae from Leith, Edinburgh.

Many thanks,
Winnie Morley

We have recently discovered my husbands great grandfather who served on the HMS Albion during Gallipoli died on May 23 1915. His grave which we visited today (2nd May 2010) is in the Kalkara Naval Cemetery, Malta.

Edward James Dove PO 2nd Class 181265 Died 23rd May 1915. This is how he is listed on the grave, however his name is John Edward Dove, this is something we will have to look into further in terms of maybe getting his name correctly listed on his grave.

Thank you
Mark & Lynn

My maternal grandfather Gunner J. S. Druce, R.M.A., D.C.M. was on HMS Albion at Gaba Tepe, Gallipoli on 23 May 1915, and was awarded a medal for rescuing a colleague from under a gun turret/tower (I am now sure of the correct terminology, sorry about that). I understand his medals are on show in the Naval Museum in Portsmouth. The Druce family still hold him in high regard. Out of interest I have just googled more information about the Albion, and will inform my brothers.

Thank you,
Diane Mary Druce Morris

My grandfather 'Eagles' was Chief Stoker serving on HMS Albion c. 1916. That's all I know but any more information would be helpful.
