Daily Event for October 31


Oct. 31, 1940 While en route from Sunderland to Cork, Ireland with a load of coal the steamer Hillfern was
bombed and sunk by German aircraft off Buchanness, Scotland. At least seven crewmen were killed, the number
of survivors is unknown.
