October 18, 1919 the submarine H-41, while tied up at Blyth in Northumberland, was sunk after the submarine depot ship HMS Vulcan passed too close and her propeller hit the boat causing a large hole. All twenty-two men on the boat escaped but the H-41, which had not yet been accepted by the Royal Navy, was sufficiently damaged to be raised and scrapped the following year. |
