Daily Event for September 25


September 25, 1922 the Japanese destroyer Kamikaze was launched at the Mitsubishi yard in Nagasaki, Japan. The namesake of the nine ship class was the only one to survive the second world war in seaworthy condition (the Harukaze also survived but was so badly damaged she was scrapped). The remaining seven all being sunk in combat during the war. (Hayate was sunk Dec. 11, 1941 at Wake Island becoming the first Japanese destroyer lost in combat in World War 2)
