March 24, 1969 In a storm on the Ionian Sea the Turkish cargo ship Aygaz capsized. The overturned ship was
found on the 26th by the Danish freighter Lion Cif which took her in tow. When they arrived at Pylos, Greece,
someone was heard banging on the bottom of the ship. Soon a hole was cut in the ship and the second engineer
was rescued. He and four others survived in the engine room but, the others had died from oxygen depravation.
