Daily Event for August 14


August 14, 1888: At 03:40 two liners collided off Sable Island, Canada. The Geiser was rundown and sunk by the Thingvalla. Both ships belonged to the Thingvalla Line of Copenhagen. Over 100 people on the Geiser
were killed.
