My great uncle Chief Petty Officer Joe Blackmore, was a CPO on the Empress of India. I had never seen a picture of the ship and was thrilled by your pictures. I felt I had in some way connected with my uncle, who was retired from the RN. as being too old for active service, and appointed to security at Portsmouth Docks. He killed in an air raid on Portsmouth Docks in WW2. I would welcome any further information and pictures of the ship. |
