Note the report in column 1: "Dutch Prisoners Freed"
Also note the report at bottom right: "Listeners' Boycott of Browder Radio Speeches Is Urged"
[The report is concluded here.]
(Apparently back in 1940 the communist threat was clearly identified, even by some democrats. There is an interesting quote in the second column "Communists are just as much a menace to the country as Nazis." So said Leon Levy, president of WCAU, Philadelphia's CBS affiliate. The report is well worth a read, and it makes one wonder why, in today's world, the same networks now openly declare the Republicans as the threat to the country while at the same time repeating propaganda from the communist Chinese.

Note in the report that Earl Browder, the communist candidate for president, was out on bail for passport fraud. It is also interesting that the communist candidate for Vice-President was James W. Ford, a "Negro." The communists did everything in their power at that time to bring Blacks into the communist party, this effort continued vigorously through the 60's and 70's and beyond.)
Also note the report in column 5: "Norwegian Ship Carrying 100 Planes to France"
(A grossly irresponsible report from the Associated Press announcing the sailing of a ship with war supplies for a nation at war with Germany. The report gives the ship's name, the flag she is flying and the cargo. The report goes on to state that even more aircraft were ready to ship to France in the next few days.)
