(Leon Trotsky, now out of favor with Josef Stalin, becomes a target of the communist regime. Like all people who fall out of favor with totalitarians, they tried to kill him. They failed this time, but totalitarians never stop. They would complete their mission on Aug. 20, 1940 and Trotsky would die the next day. The failure must be covered up, so within days the communist propaganda machine would publish false reports of how the attempt was staged by Trotsky himself.)
