(This is the second report since the beginning of the invasion of Norway that the battleship Gneisenau has been reported to have been sunk. Both reports were false.)

Note the headline: "7 German Destroyers Sunk"
(Actually 8 had been sunk in what was called the Second Naval Battle of Narvik. The Norway invasion was for the most part was the end of the German destroyer fleet. On Apr. 10th (the First Naval Battle of Narvik) the Germans lost the destroyers Z-21 Wilhelm Heidkamp and Z-22 Anton Schmitt. Then on Apr. 13th in the Second Naval Battle of Narvik the destroyers Z-2 Georg Thiele, Z-9 Wolfgang Zenker, Z-11 Bernd von Arnim, Z-12 Erich Giese, Z-13 Erich Koellner, Z-17 Diether von Roeder, Z-18 Hans Luddemann and Z-19 Hermann Kunne were all sunk.)
